Regrettably we have detected a defect with our GENIO PRO bike rear carrier: We have received isolated complaints regarding the locking function of the so-called folding mechanism, where in rare cases there is a risk of the carrier folding out during a journey. This malfunction may lead to a change in driving performance, which poses a hazard to road safety. Furthermore, it may cause damage to the transported bikes.

It is however ensured that the loaded bike carrier always remains fixed to the vehicle even if it folds down.

 

Our work is based on our uncompromising commitment to quality, with the safety and well-being of our customers being paramount to us. This is why we have decided to run a voluntary product recall for the Atera GENIO PRO model.

Please proceed as follows if you own a Genio Pro bike carrier:

 

 


With immediate effect, do not use your Atera GENIO PRO and do not allow use by third parties.

Contact your specialist dealer from whom you purchased your Atera GENIO PRO.

Your specialist dealer will help you in further processing your return and ensure that the process is as straightforward as possible for you.

Check the product nameplate in order to determine whether you are affected by this recall - the product nameplate is located below the wheel rail platform and is visible when the carrier is folded out.

Q: Are other Atera products affected by this recall?

A: No. Only the Atera GENIO PRO bike rear carrier with order number 022 780 is affected.

 

Q: Can I continue using the Atera GENIO PRO?
A: No. As part of our uncompromising commitment to quality, we have decided to recall the product. We recommend that our customers stop using the Atera GENIO PRO immediately and do not allow use by third parties. There is a risk that the locking function of the so-called folding mechanism is released. This may lead to a change in driving performance, which poses a hazard to road safety.

 

Q: How do I know that I own this particular product?

A:  First of all, check the order number of your product. Your product is affected if it involves order number 022 780.
You will find the part number either on your user information or on the type plate of your carrier. When folded down, you will find it below the right wing on the tube of the base frame.

 



Alternatively, you can also check the type description of your carrier. If your carrier has the description “SGP”, it is affected by this recall.

 

Q: What are the next steps?

A: With immediate effect, we urge you to stop using the product, do not allow use by third parties and contact your specialist dealer.  They will be happy to help you with the recall process. Atera GmbH will implement the necessary technical measures in Leutkirch as soon as possible. To register for your carrier to be replaced, please contact your specialist dealer. Atera GmbH is using this procedure to ensure that all affected bike carriers are properly inspected.
